So right before plunging into my spring phase of food and nature photographs (this year I’ve got to capture something spring-y to boost my winter sales – although I don’t live in a climate that makes for beautiful spring photographs) I went back into my older shoot for a brief period looking for stuff I missed on the initial editing of a shoot. I remember this one – it’s totally staged: the man would never sit in a chapel this way, but he had me visit this small chapel and I was stricken by the light and size of it. That means I could easily frame a whole bunch of stuff into the shot that larger churches would not allow.
Last summer, while I was going through this series of country farm life pictures, I tried working on this one but lacked the skill in photoshop to do it well. There were many difficulties, the worst being that the back wall was covered with big ugly letters forming a market killing French prayer to Saint-Anthony, meaning it would have to be entirely redrawn in Photoshop. I tried but never could do it properly. So I gave it another go recently and did a much better job and decided to send it out to Istock, who now represent it.
Oh and I really love the light…
