First sale Monday was this one, a strange photograph that was selected by Istock as their photo of the week. Up to that point the file had never sold. In the weeks following the feature, it sold 4 times. Hardly a best seller, but it was nice to finally see some movement.
First sale Tuesday is the shot above, one of a series with a great model I worked with several times in 2011. I also experimented with an effect of day for night in post-production because the light was adequate but strong (strobes) on the set. So I lowered both contrast, luminosity and saturation and added a blue tint to make it look like early morning. Now for anyone working in stock, doing these moves are really against nature as in 95% of the cases we do the opposite. As a result, a few shots did not make it through inspection, with flat lighting rejections, but the few that did pass did sell including another one that might end up as a flame eventually.
You can view all of my photos with this model in medium format in this photoshelter archive gallery (links to purchase are below the photos on their respective pages) or directly in this IStock lightbox.
