And here’s my last sale for October, and suitably, on this Halloween night, it’s make-up tools. I have little story over this photograph if only this: keep your eyes open while on assignments. I was invited to shoot the famous clown show Agaboom while they played in Laval last year, and while waiting for the show show to start, I went to every corner backstage and shot a nicely successful series of tools, audio equipment, seats and this table top shot of the artists’ make-up table.
It is a moody shot, far from being technically perfect: there is noise, an uninspired composition, and so little depth of field that it’s hard to see anything in focus in the shot (the top of the sponge and the upper curve of the powder tray are the only sharp things here). Still, I sent it because I thought it was useful, original and authentic.
