Ah, product photography. In fact, textured product photography. This was the theme of today’s exercise at the college, and I had such a fun time along with my Colleagues Hélène, Dany and Louis-Philippe. The exercise was simple enough, namely to place lights at the perfect angles to highlight the different textures of an object. Then to add some difficulty, we had to create a cookie, which is a cut-out through which a ray of light shines, creating some dimension on the background. I had the ill-fated idea to create a simple circle which would look like the sun, and then tried it for 2 hours in tons of different ways. At the end of the day, it just didn’t work according to my standards, which is why you won’t see it on this blog. The hat and jeans were however quite well done with nice textures, shadows and colors. Next time I use a cookie, it will be for some sort of line art.. or ghost. NOT a circle.
The hat is an authentic Bailey which I bought in Arizona in a cowboy hat store. It is a well fitted, comfortable aerated hat, perfect for long strolls in the western deserts.
